Our Beliefs

We believe that the Bible, consisting of the 66 books of the Old and New Testaments, is the only, authoritative, infallible Word of God, verbally inspired and without error in the original manuscripts. It is the final authority for our faith and practice. We believe in a historical, contextual, grammatical, literary-theological hermeneutic for the interpretation of Scripture (2 Tim 3:16–17; John 17:17).

We believe in the one true God, existing in a unity of three persons – Father, Son, and Holy Spirit – who are coequal, coeternal, and consubstantial. God is the creator of all things, holy, sovereign, loving, and infinitely perfect in every way (Deut 6:4; Matt 28:19; 2 Cor 13:14).

We believe that Jesus Christ is the eternal Son of God who added a fully human nature to his divine nature thus becoming the God–man. We believe in Jesus’ virgin birth, in His sinless life, in His miracles, in His substitutionary and atoning death through His shed blood on the cross, in His bodily resurrection, in His ascension to the right hand of the Father (John 1:1, 14; Heb 4:15; 1 John 2:2; 4:10).

We believe that the Holy Spirit convicts men of sin, righteousness, and judgment. He regenerates sinners and places them into the body of Christ. He also indwells, illuminates, guides, equips and empowers believers for Christ-like living and service. He gives gifts for the building up of the church (John 16:8; 1 Cor 12:11; Titus 3:5).

We believe that man was created in the image of God by an ex nihilo act as described in scripture. We believe that man deliberately sinned, fell under God’s condemnation and the power of sin, and thereby incurred physical and spiritual death. Sin has touched man’s entire being, leaving him completely unable to earn God’s favor or contribute to his own salvation. Only through God’s saving work in Jesus Christ can man be rescued, reconciled, and renewed (Gen 1:26-31; Rom 5:12; 6:20; Eph 2:1-10; Titus 3:5).

We believe that salvation is a miraculous work of God by grace alone, through faith alone, in Jesus Christ alone. It is the unmerited demonstration of God’s love, whereby a guilty sinner is justified apart from works, resulting in the forgiveness of sins and the gift of eternal life.  The gospel message is the good news of God’s salvation for those who repent of their sin and trust in Jesus’ atoning death, burial, and victorious resurrection (Eph 2:8-9; Rom 3:21-25; 4:4-5; 2 Cor 5:21; Gal 2:16).

We believe that Christ will come again to consummate his kingdom and judge the world. We believe in a final resurrection of both the saved and lost, one to eternal life and the other to eternal condemnation (John 5:29; 1 Thess 1:10; Rev 11:15; 20:4-10, 13–15).

We believe that church is the body and bride of the Lord Jesus Christ into which all true believers of the present age are placed. Members of this spiritual body should assemble themselves together in local churches, which consist of committed, baptized believers. A healthy local church increasingly reflects the character of God, is organized according to the principles of scripture, and carries out the mission of Jesus Christ. We believe that the church needs to preach the true gospel, maintain its purity by practicing biblical discipline, retain its focus through biblical  worship, and display the Christ’s redemptive work through the observance of the ordinances (1 Tim 3:15; Acts 2:41; Matt 18: 15-17; 28:18-20).

The gospel is the good news of God's salvation for sinners in the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ. We believe that to maintain the purity, clarity, and credibility of the gospel Christians and churches must distinguish themselves from those who deny essential doctrines of the faith, false teachers who promote another gospel, and disobedient believers who refuse to walk according to the truth. We believe that Christians and churches have the joyous opportunity to reflect God’s holiness and love, and live in a way that reflects his saving grace (Jude 3; 2 John 9–11; Rom 16:17; Phil 3:17–19; 2 Thess 3:6–15; 1 Pet 1:15–16; Eph 4:17–19).
